How Time Flies!

Looking at my blog this morning, I suddenly realised, it’s been almost a month since my last post!

However, I think I can be forgiven. The last week of September was taken up with a fun AmDram production in which I played Detective Inspector Lestrade in Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Stolen Suspender. Ten years after an AmDram experience which left me scarred I finally trod the boards again and it was wonderful.

Acting is my first love, and now that I have “broken the seal”, so to speak, I can’t wait to do more.

However, I also love writing and working on the story which has been living in my head for the past ten years or more is proving to be a rather rewarding experience.

Previous attempts at writing always resulted in me running out of steam after the first few chapters, I had a tendency to struggle when it came to bringing the first few threads of the story together. Now, however, with a lot of writers dedicating a chapter per character I have adopted the same approach and progressed further than I ever have in the past. Thirteen chapters in which means I’m almost to the halfway point.

I intend to write about thirty chapters. However, I am aware that a lot of stories won’t be constrained and I may complete in less or more but this is the goal I’m working to and it gives me something to focus on as the middle section will be the difficult bit. Bringing characters into each others’ existence, their impact on each other etc. etc.

If I can meet that challenge then I’m pretty confident I will have the book completed and ready for “beta testing” early next year and that is another exciting prospect. Actually getting people to read and critique which I hope will set me up to make the necessary improvements and edits etc before I step onto the rocky road of publishing.
